HTO Pathfinder 120mm | 12g: The Soft Sandeel Specialist

The HTO Pathfinder in the 120mm, 12g configuration is a high-performance soft plastic lure designed to perfectly replicate one of the most essential prey items in the sea: the sandeel. At Gerrys Fishing, we recommend this lure for anglers targeting Bass, Pollack, and specimen Wrasse. Its long, slender profile and precision weighting make it an incredibly effective tool for both shore and boat fishing.

While there are metal versions of the Pathfinder, the 120mm Soft Lure variant is all about finesse and lifelike movement. The narrow body and paddle tail work in harmony to produce a high-frequency vibration that predators can feel through their lateral lines, even in murky water or low-light conditions.

Realistic Engineering & Attraction

• Slimline Jig Head: The Pathfinder features a streamlined, narrow jig head that blends seamlessly into the body. This reduces water resistance, allowing the lure to dive quickly and maintain a natural horizontal posture during a steady retrieve.

• Narrow Paddle Tail Action: The tail is specifically tapered to increase the kicking action. This creates a realistic shimmy that sends out consistent vibrations, mimicking a panicked sandeel darting away from a predator.

• Glow-in-the-Dark Glitter: A unique feature of the Pathfinder (excluding the standard Sandeel color) is the impregnated glow-in-the-dark glitter. Once energized by light, the lure provides a subtle, alluring glow that helps predators home in on the bait in deep water or during night sessions.

• Versatile Environments: Although designed as a sandeel mimic for the salt, its 120mm (12cm) profile and 12g weight also make it a fantastic search tool for large freshwater Perch, Zander, and Pike in rivers and reservoirs.

Tactical Applications

The 12g 120mm Pathfinder is a search and destroy lure. The Gerrys team suggests:

• The Wind Method: As discovered by HTO pros, this lure can be fished with a consistent jigging motion, causing it to dart and bounce from left to right. This erratic action is often the key to triggering a strike from wary Bass.

• Steady Shore Retrieve: Cast along rocky points or surf beaches. A simple, steady retrieve allows the paddle tail to do the work. The 12g weight provides enough heft for decent casting distance while allowing for a slow, seductive presentation in the mid-water.

• Vertical Structure Prospecting: Use the 120mm profile to fish vertically against harbor walls or pier legs. The slim head allows the lure to drop quickly, while the tail kicks on the fall, making it deadly for resident Pollack.

• Low-Light Sessions: Charge the glow-glitter with a UV torch before casting at dawn, dusk, or night. The subtle internal glow provides a hit point that predators can focus on when visibility is low.

Gerrys Verdict:

The HTO Pathfinder 120mm/12g is an exceptional addition to any tackle box. It balances the realism of a soft sandeel with innovative features like glow-impregnated plastic and a highly active tail. If you need a reliable, aerodynamic soft lure that can handle both fresh and saltwater predators, the Pathfinder is a top-tier choice
