Keeping your spare rods, baited traces, or terminal tools neatly organized beside your tripod is essential for a fluid, stress-free session on the shore. The Ian Golds Single Cup for Round Legs is a classic, ultra-reliable piece of engineering from one of the most respected names in sea angling. Designed specifically to retro-fit effortlessly onto round-legged tripods and beach rests, this accessory provides a stable, heavy-duty platform to cradle the butt of your rod or secure accessory arms exactly where you need them.

Manufactured from high-impact, marine-grade polymers, this cup is built to handle the brutal knocks of rugged coastal environments without cracking, even on freezing winter nights on the pier. It features an integrated, high-torque clamping bracket that locks onto round alloy legs with an absolute vice-like grip, preventing any unwanted slipping or rotating when under load. It is an inexpensive, highly practical upgrade that maximizes the efficiency of your beach camp layout.

Examples of Where to Use

• Upgrading Standard Round-Leg Tripods: The ultimate addition for converting a basic round-legged rod rest into a highly organized fishing station. It allows you to add a dedicated secondary cup for holding a spare rod or a baited rig carrier.

• Rough-Ground Beach & Rock Sessions: Perfect for keeping your rod butts elevated out of abrasive shingle, fine sand, or corrosive saltwater pools, ensuring your expensive reel seats stay completely clean and free of grit.

• High-Wind Pier and Breakwater Fishing: Ideal for securing your rod firmly to your rest during heavy coastal gales. The deep cup profile ensures that a sudden gust of wind or a fierce bite wont lift the rod butt out of position.

Gerrys Pro Tip

Pro Tip: If you want to use this cup to hold a backup rod or a pre-baited rig trace while you fish, dont just clamp it anywhere! Position the cup on the lower third of your tripod leg, and pair it with an Ian Golds Single Rod Head mounted further up the same leg. This creates a completely independent, self-contained secondary rod rest on your existing tripod frame, allowing you to manage two rods perfectly parallel without buying a whole new beach rest!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Will this cup fit triangular or square-profile tripod legs?

A: No. This specific model features a curved clamping bracket engineered precisely to bite into round-profile alloy legs. If you have a triangular-legged tripod (like the standard Ian Golds Supermatch), you will need to select the dedicated triangular-leg version instead to ensure a secure fit.

Q: Is the clamping bolt prone to rusting after exposure to saltwater?

A: No. Ian Golds accessories utilize high-quality, corrosion-resistant hardware explicitly selected for marine sea fishing applications, ensuring the threads spin smoothly and wont freeze or seize up over multiple seasons.

Q: Can I adjust the height of the cup on the tripod leg?

A: Yes, absolutely. The tool-free thumb-screw mechanism allows you to slacken the bracket in seconds, slide the cup up or down the round leg to match the length of your rod butt, and lock it back into place with total ease.
