Key Specifications

Core Performance Features

• Bait Finesse System (BFS) Optimization: The 164LBFS2 is built to load deeply and recover instantly, allowing for the high-speed, low-trajectory casts required for BFS fishing. The 64 length provides the snap needed to launch 3.5g lures with incredible accuracy.

• UBD (Ultimate Blank Design): This philosophy ensures the transition from the sensitive, fast tip to the surprisingly powerful mid-section is perfectly seamless. It allows you to work a tiny Ned rig with precision but still have the power to stop a large perch or zander in its tracks.

• Enhanced Sensitivity (Opening End): The 2024 handle design features a hollow, open-ended structure. By removing the traditional rubber butt cap, the handle acts as a resonance chamber, amplifying the vibration of your lure and the subtlest of ticks on the line by up to 128% compared to previous generations.

• Spiral X Core Technology: To prevent blank twist when casting ultra-light lures, Shimano uses Spiral X Core. This keeps the rod perfectly true, ensuring that even under the stress of a big fish, the rod maintains its structural integrity and power.

• Perfection CI4+ XT Reel Seat: Designed specifically for low-profile BFS reels, this reel seat is extremely light and ergonomic. It allows for a three-finger grip that puts your palm in direct contact with the resonant carbon for unparalleled feedback.

Gerrys Pro Tip: The 164LBFS2 is a dream for Street Fishing and canal work. The 99cm transport length means it can be carried easily on a rucksack or public transport, while the BFS action makes it the most effective tool for targeting cagey perch and zander in high-pressure urban environments.
