Tenryu Furrary Travel 80Lb (3 Brins) 7 3 60-180g 3sec

If you are a globe-trotting angler chasing the fish of a lifetime in the tropics, the Tenryu Furrary Travel 80Lb is your ultimate boarding pass. Here at Gerrys Fishing, we know that traveling with high-end popping gear usually involves massive rod tubes and expensive baggage fees. This specialized 3-piece weapon solves that problem without sacrificing the legendary Tenryu Red power, packing down to a compact 82cm that fits comfortably in a standard large suitcase.

Product Details & Uses

The Furrary Travel 80Lb is designed to tame the most combative predators on the planet. Whether you are launching poppers for Giant Trevally (GT) and Roosterfish or casting stickbaits into a frenzy of Yellowfin and Bluefin Tuna, this rod provides the perfect balance of catapult casting and raw stopping power.

Its unique 3-strand (equal length) construction was perfected after nearly two years of rigorous testing to ensure the joints never become a weak point. The blank features a specialized 100% glass composition, a deliberate choice that grants the rod incredible robustness and a progressive action. This soft tip allows you to work large lures effortlessly for hours and acts as a massive shock absorber, soaking up the violent rushes of a trophy fish right at the boat sidemoments that would shatter a more brittle carbon rod.

Prime Locations & Uses:

• Exotic Expeditions: Specifically engineered for remote destinations like Madagascar, Gabon, and the Andaman Islands.

• Trophy Popping: Ideal for working big lures, poppers, and stickbaits between 60g and 180g where distance is key to avoiding boat-shy fish.

• Big Game Species: The go-to tool for GT, Roosterfish, Amberjack, and Cubera Snapper.

• Shark & Tuna: The 80lb power reserve makes it a formidable choice for shark fishing and medium-sized pelagics.

Gerrys Pro Tip

The Furrary Travel is the only Japanese multi-piece rod of its kind, and its a absolute beast. My advice? When youre fishing 80lb class gear in the heat of the tropics, your joints will be under immense pressure. Use a tiny bit of candle wax on the male joints before you assemble the three sections. This prevents the rod from twisting during a massive cast and, more importantly, ensures you can actually get it apart again at the end of the trip! Pair this with a 10000 or 14000 size Saltiga or Stella, and youre ready for anything the ocean throws at you.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Is a 100% glass rod too heavy for casting poppers?

A: Not in the case of the Furrary. Tenryu uses a high-density fiberglass that provides the necessary weight for the catapult effect without being unwieldy. The glass is what gives this rod its unbreakable reputation during the high-pressure stages of a fight with a 40kg GT.

Q: Will this fit in my standard check-in luggage?

A: With a transport length of 82cm, it will fit diagonally into most Large or XL check-in suitcases. This saves you a fortune in Oversized or Sports Equipment fees at the airport.

Q: Can I use it for vertical jigging?

A: While it has the power to lift heavy fish, the 7 3 length and progressive glass action are specifically optimized for casting and popping. If you want a travel rod primarily for deep-water jigging, a shorter, stiffer dedicated jigging rod would be more efficient.

Q: Why choose the Travel version over the 2-piece Racing model?

A: Pure convenience. The action is remarkably similar, but the Travel version allows you to head to exotic locations with your high-end gear tucked safely inside your suitcase, away from the prying eyes and rough hands of baggage handlers!
